3. Summary:  

To ward  the “SDGs Yokohama, the City of the Future”, we work with local residents and the private sector in four regions to promote sustainable and attractive urban development, while resolving various issues such as Declining birth rate and increasing elderly population, the ageing of housing stock and the increasing number of vacant houses.

B. Objective:

8. Objectives:
As working together with industry, academia, government and the private sector to solve the problems of suburban residential areas, we aim to realize sustainable suburban residential areas and the SDGs Future City of Yokohama. In addition, the results of these efforts will be shared with other suburban residential areas.

①Areas along the Tokyu Den-en-toshi Line.
Realization of the community living model (arranging and coordinating the functions necessary for daily life within walking distance) set out in the “Basic Concept for Next-Generation Suburban Community Development 2013”.

②The area around Tokaichiba-cho, Midori-ku.
Inducing a variety of housing and child-rearing support facilities, revitalizing local exchanges and activities, including those in the surrounding areas, communicating the attractiveness of the area, and supporting the change of residence.

③Areas along the Sotetsu Izumino Line.
As part of community development that makes use of the attractive local resources at each station along the line, agricultural resources will be utilized, and the themes of "health" and "sports" will be used to foster a sense of attachment to the local area and revitalize the community.

④Yokodai area, Isogo Ward.
Support for multi-generational exchange and community, urban development for multi-generational living using existing stock, and simultaneous solutions for the creation of liveliness, environmental considerations and disaster prevention measures.

①Areas along the Tokyu Den-en-toshi Line

In 2012, we signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement with Tokyu Corporation. Since then, based on the “Basic Concept for Next-Generation Suburban Community Development 2013”, we have been working with local communities, private companies, universities, and other organizations to revitalize local activities, induce functions (such as childcare support, local exchange centers, and employment functions), and conduct area management, with the aim of realizing a community living model.

 

②The area around Tokaichiba-cho, Midori-ku

A project implementation agreement was concluded in 2015. Since then, based on the agreement, we have been working on the development of multi-generational housing and child-rearing support facilities, as well as the revitalization of local exchange and activities, including those in the surrounding area, the promotion of the area’s attractiveness, and support for changing residences.

 

③ Areas along the Sotetsu Izumino Line

In 2013, we concluded a comprehensive cooperation agreement with Sotetsu Holdings Co. Since then, in addition to the redevelopment of the area in front of the station and the development of local exchange centers, we have been working with the local community to revitalize the area at each station along the line.

 

④Yokodai area, Isogo Ward

In 2012, we concluded a comprehensive cooperation agreement with the Urban Renaissance Agency. Since then, we have been working with the local community to create a multi-generational community, developing a plaza as a base for community exchange and organising exchange events.

To promote the resolution of local issues through the collaboration of local activities and diverse actors, and to create a mechanism for local initiatives to become self-sustaining.

  • The development of a plaza in front of the station, multifamily housing, a community exchange centre, employment and childcare support functions have been carried out.
  • As a result of the revitalization of local exchange through events and the discovery and development of human resources for community development, the local intermediary support organizations have been established and community-based initiatives have begun to emerge.
